Badledeerin
In the far reaches of the Empire, shrouded in mystery and obscured by a perpetual brown haze, lies Badledeerin, a planet steeped in the echoes of history and the innovative spirit of its residents. Known as the site of the Last Human War, it stands as a testament to the Tarthian Empire's final engagement of human ground forces. The cloud of shielding technology that envelops the planet serves to protect its secrets and preserve its intricate ecosystem, making it difficult to discern the treasure trove of resources concealed below.
From space, Badledeerin appears as a hazy orb, a cloak of brown shielding, which both intrigues and conceals. For those who venture to the surface, however, the allure of its natural resources becomes apparentβexotic minerals, ancient technologies, and remnants of an era when humanity forged its fate with gritty resilience and resolve. Adventurous travelers can partake in guided side trips that offer glimpses of the planet's unique geology and hidden marvels, turning each excursion into a thrilling quest.
Culture, Commerce, and Tourism
Badledeerin is inhabited by a unique blend of citizens, where nearly 30% of its population consists of cyborgsβsoldiers who were once human but have been transformed as a result of the Last Human War. The local residents embody a blend of nostalgia and futuristic ambition, as they honor their troubled past while actively participating in the cutting-edge fields of medical tourism and cybernetic advancements.
Renowned for its exceptional transplant and limb-replacement research institutions, Badledeerin attracts visitors from across the empire seeking medical care, turning it into a hub of medical innovation.
For those intrigued by relics of the War, the planet offers a marketplace rich with souvenirs and artifacts that date back to the conflictβeach piece telling a story of heroism and survival. However, amidst the nostalgia, strict regulations governed by the Grand Parliament of Tarth ensures that all weapons sold are non-functional, serving only as artifacts rather than instruments of conflict. Visitors may find modified antiques in the shops, but be warned that any alterations are unofficial and discouraged.
Per Tradestandard law, all weaponsβregardless of their functionalityβmust be transported in approved cases, available for purchase at an additional cost. For the bravest at heart eager to collect unique mementos, the shops offer an array of military memorabilia that captures the essence of the war's enduring legacy.
The presence of androids and warbots, which now comprise the majority of the Imperial Armada, serves as a stark reminder of the planet's military heritage. The remnants of the War have left deep impressions on the collective consciousness of Badledeerin's citizens, influencing both their culture and technological advancements.
Badledeerin represents a dynamic interplay between the past and the future, where echoes of conflict have paved the way for medical breakthroughs and cultural tourism. Its past remains part of its identity, while its vibrant future is open for exploration and discovery for those daring enough to seek it.
