Color the Characters Read the Books #ColoringBook

So nice to relax and play with crayons, pens, and pencils. Try it!

De-stress and color!

Are you an adult who likes to color? You are in luck. This week, I'm sharing giveaways that I developed with my son Jamin Allen, who's a graphic designer. You can download, print and color the banner in today's post. Click it to open the PDF, then either download or print directly from the browser.

The image is Pietas (model Nik Nitsvetov).

Together, Jamin and I created coloring books for my various books and characters. You can download seven of them for free on this page on my website.

The first, Unstoppable Heroes and Heroines, features characters found in almost every one of my books. The Antonello Brothers has characters found in At the Mercy of Her Pleasure and For Women Only.

Peril -- the Immortal's Game is a unique coloring book. It has characters but also a maze and multi-sided dice to color.

Pietas -- the Bringer of Chaos has over a dozen dragons. Pietas dreams about dragons and their symbolism appears in his stories. In a future book, he will bond with one. Do you like flowers and butterflies? There are two coloring books that showcase those.

Color the Characters: Read the Books #ColoringBook #MFRWhooks #MFRWauthorColoring Pencils/Pens

You can pick up inexpensive boxes of crayons and take yourself back to your childhood. I have several sets of colored pencils and pens. My favorite type is gel because the colors are so rich and bright. The Eparon gel pen set has 40 unique colors and they're only $6.99. If you have Amazon Prime you can get them without shipping fees. There are 4 standard coloring pens, 6 neon, 5 mixed pastel, 5 solid pastel, 10 glitter, and 10 metallic. They are acid-free, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly. My advice is to get this set in addition to another with simpler colors. That way you have a variety.

Thank you for stopping by. Please say hello or leave a note in the comments. Do you like coloring? What is your favorite type of drawing?

How to Embed Instagram on WordPress in 6 Easy Steps #Instagram #WordPress

Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to embed Instagram posts on your WordPress website? There is!

How to Embed Instagram on WordPress

I found a great hack for Instagram while searching tips and tricks. I'm always open to learning new and better ways to do things. When I saw this, I knew I had to share it with you. I use Instagram for fun, and occasionally, I share something I'm working on. That's what the post at the left is all about.Β I was working on banners for my new book, A Stolen Heart, and thought I'd show one to my followers.

The post I'm showing here features Pietas, who was cosplayed by Nik Nitsvetov live on Instagram.

My curiosity about how to embed Instagram posts on a blog turned up a super easy way to do it.

6 Steps to Embed Instagram on WordPress

This is such an easy way to extend your reach with Instagram that I'm surprised more people don't do it. I found this hack on the website of the awesome Kim Garst. Be sure to check out her post "20 Instagram tricks that you probably don't know." It was fabulous. I followed Kim's instructions and it worked great. Here's how to do it yourself.

1. Go to the Instagram post you want to embed.

2. Look for 3 dots -- that's a mini-menu you can access. Click it.

3. In the drop down menu, click "Embed." Here, you have a choice whether to include the caption. For the example above, I did. The code will be super long, but Instagram lets you copy the code with one click, which makes it really easy.

4. Go to the WordPress blog post where you want to show this image.

5. Look for the tab at the top of the post window that says "text" and click it.

6. Paste the code.

That's it. Go back to visual, and you'll see the Instagram post on your blog. How cool is that?

I've been thinking about recording myself working on banners and then sharing the video here and on Instagram. What do you think? Would you be interested in seeing that? What other "How To" questions do you have? Let me know in the comments and if I don't know, I'll research it and see if I can help.

A Stolen Heart

When he rescues a half-human orphan, a glorified space pirate turned entrepreneur sets in motion a chain of events that threatens to topple the powerful Thieves' Guild he once led.

Multiple layers of conspiracy unfold, reaching all the way to Luc's immortal ex--the king. Behind each solved mystery looms an unseen foe, undoing the good Luc accomplishes. For the sake of this child, Luc must postpone his own freedom and master his desire for revenge or he will violate an ancient vow. Worse, he'll put the toddler at risk.

At war with his compassion for the vulnerable child, loyalty to the king, duty to the Guild, and the bright lure of freedom he's coveted for centuries, Luc seeks the right path. Will he choose liberty and unparalleled success, or restore the Thieves' Guild to its former glory while overseeing the child's training?

A hard choice for any man.

For an immortal whose inner monster can destroy on sight? Impossible.

A pirate with a monstrous past can never be trusted with an innocent child. Luc must ensure the child is protected, safe, nowhere near danger. Nowhere near him. Even if this little boy has already stolen his heart...

If you're an author with tips for social media, contact me. I'd be happy to share your ideas.

Do you have any tips for using Instagram? Please share in the comments. I'd love to know what you might like me to share on future posts.

This tip is one I doubt I'd ever have discovered on my own. How to upload to Instagram from my PC. What a timesaver. My thanks to author LA Sartor for this one!

Sometimes I'm on my pc and have things I want to share on Instagram. Sometimes I save images from my phone to the cloud and then want to download and use them. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to upload to Instagram from my PC?

Guess what? You can.

There might be other ways to upload to Instagram but this one, using Chrome, is one of the easiest, and for me the best.

Upload to Instagram

My friend, author LA Sartor, shared her tip with my writer marketing group, Marketing for Romance Writers. It was so helpful that I asked LA if I could share it on my blog as well. Happily for us, she agreed. So I'm also sharing her book, Prince Of Granola. Wait till you see how that title came about!

A picture is worth 1000 words, they say. In this case I agree.

Here's the infographic on how to upload to Instagram that made the rounds on MFRW.

Prince Of Granola by LA Sartor

Cacao. Long a symbol of wealth, love, and power – now the center of a powerful rivalry.

The fabled Costa Rican Plantation of White Treasure, source of the rarest form of the cacao bean, is up for sale. Though two fierce competitors have been invited to bid on it, only one can win.

For Drew Hopkins, purchasing the plantation is the perfect solution to escape a life she never wanted.

For Robert Prince, it's the perfect route to revenge.

Drew, the founder's daughter and now CEO of HH Chocolate, heads a company whose sales are waning. Robert, CEO of Prince Organics, a man driven by excellence, despises everything and everyone labeled Hopkins.

But it wasn't always that way.

Will their forced proximity at the lush and exotic plantation rekindle old flames or will it fan the fires of antagonism?

Fake Face

We've spent the last few weeks talking about the cosplay for Pietas.

However, the single most important person in Pietas's life, other than his family, is a man called Six. Today's post is a scene from the story Lights Out, which chronicles how Six and Pietas met. I'll give you a hint. There was instant respect, but not instant friendship.

In Origin of Pietas, Tornahdo receives the name Six, and it's a direct result of what happens in Lights Out.

The Ghost Corps consists of special ops soldiers who have died, and have been resurrected with the blood of an immortal Ultra.

This scene begins with the delivery of a mission by a man wearing a "fake face" -- which the hero knows right away does not bode well.

Fake Face

The unlit room where Tornahdo and his crew waited closed in as if the walls pulled together and the ceiling sank. The longer they waited, the thicker the air. Warm, heavy with sweat and the tart bite of fear, every breath choked the senses.

More than one ghost pulled at his collar. Tension arced through the room, lightning skating over a metal fence.

Was the anti-emo chip even working?

After half an hour of waiting, no one had spoken.

Probably another test.

Tornahdo, for one, wasn't failing it.

The door opened, bringing a shock of icy air.

They all knew they were being sent to die. They were ghosts. That's what ghosts did. They hammered at Ultras until they perma-killed them or they kept Ultras busy until others escaped. But at least they were getting to breathe first.

In walked a person close to seven Terran feet. Silhouette looked male. Tall enough to be an Ultra. He strode into the center of the room and beckoned everyone closer.

No clue who hid behind the full-body fake-face. It cycled through various images, too fast to keep up. Like trying to count air bubbles rising in a pool.

Remaining at the back, Tornahdo stood at ease.

"This is the best day in human recollection." Speaking through a voice changer, the voice took on genderless robotic tones. "Today, we make history."

If it was such a good day, why hide behind a fake-face and a voice changer?

The chip in Tornahdo's head pinged a stinging reminder to avoid such thoughts. He reined in his doubt and focused.

"This mission is called Lights Out. Your duty is simple. Chancellor Pietas is unconscious. You'll put him in a lifepod. That's it." The guy paused. "Questions?"

A tall ghost removed his helmet. "How can Ultras be unconscious?"

"The peace talks were a trap. When Pietas and the Council arrived, we told them we'd jettison their module unless they entered their lifepods, which they did. Except Pietas, of course, so we siphoned the air out of the room. Before you go in, you'll hyperventilate, store up oxygen. This room is being pumped full at a high rate. Your chip will aid you."

Ultras held their breath ten times longer than humans. Tornahdo had trained to hold his five times longer. Pietas probably managed fifteen or twenty times.

Twelve of them. In a vacuum. Against the Ultra called Bringer of Chaos. Whose motto was, "Pain is a warrior's ally."

No number of chips made that doable.

Two ways to get Lights Out for free.

Pietas was too proud to steal; too stubborn to beg @nitsvetov #SpaceOpera #PietasFans

Proud to show you images from the Chaos is Coming cosplay featuring Nik Nitsvetov as Pietas, the immortal king. Members of my reader groups will receive a larger group of exclusive photos in the next newsletter. Info on how to sign up is at the end. Below is a quote from Elryk, the man Pietas considers his mentor and the father he never had. You’ll meet Elryk in a future series.

Chaos is Coming – Sci Fi Cosplay

On Nov 27th, Nik Nitsvetov wore the Pietas armor he hand made for the Chaos is Coming Cosplay, performed live on Instagram.

Last year Nik performed as Pietas from the Bringer of Chaos series doing the Ritual of Strength. You can see the video of him performing here. ThisΒ  cosplay he portrayed Pietas as a younger version of the immortal king. Before he led his people, Pietas was a plebe in the Discord. After all, even the mightiest river has a beginning.

The immortal king began life as a soldier when he was still a teenager. Imagine being abandoned on a new world where you have no idea about customs, no identification, no money, no food, and no friends. No one will hire you, and you are too proud to steal and too stubborn to beg. That was Pietas at age sixteen. Part of his story is revealed in the Bringer of Chaos series. These images (and nearly 700 like them) will be used for covers and banners for that new series. I can’t wait to start writing!

I hope you enjoy the images!

Nik Nitsvetov cosplayed Pietas in armor he hand-made for the Chaos is Coming Cosplay. See for yourself in these images.

The one at the left, with the heart, was from Nik to me at the end. That was so sweet of him! Nik is a gentleman who is generous with his time and energy. I share his work as often as possible. He deserves all the praise.Β  Please follow him! He never fails to amaze.

Before the immortal king Pietas from the Bringer of Chaos series was king, he was a rookie a plebe in a group called the Discord. I'll be writing a series set in this period of Pietas's life, and these images will be used for covers, banners, and videos.

I plan two more books for the Bringer of Chaos series and then two books in the Antonello Brothers series before moving to the Discord books. The series is so new I don't even have a working title for it yet! The hero will be a teenager, freshly out in the world and on his own for the first time in his life. I'm open to suggestions if you have ideas.

Decompress from the Chaos Cosplay? How? @nitsvetov #PietasFans #Cosplay #SpaceOpera

Decompress from the fabulous Chaos Cosplay with @nitsvetov how? #PietasFans #Cosplay #SpaceOpera

Decompressing

I watched the live stream of the new Pietas cosplay on Instagram on November 23rd and now I'm trying to decompress. Relax. Take a chill pill. All that stuff.

Well... it's not working.

I just saw my immortal king (who is in how many books now?) come to life before my eyes. I know I'm going to get a link to the pictures from this 3 hour photo shoot. I'll have high resolution photos to enjoy and use for various purposes. Nik also promised to video part of it as well. And then there was the live version. Did I mention it was live? LOL Yeah. Decompress from that... how?

Not happening anytime soon.

Watch the video on this page to see Nik as Pietas the king, done last year. Pietas Ritual

I'll be sharing exclusive shots of both cosplays with members of my reader groups. Are you one of them? Join here. I'll release the link in my next newsletter, out Dec 7th. Sign up now so you don't miss it.

Decompress? What...?!

At the end of the cosplay, Nik sent me a message -- a heart. <3 Squee! Sending a huge one back!
I don't think I will ever decompress from this...

I've enjoyed seeing Nik create the armor Nano-Core designed for this cosplay.
