Though Blind Gambit is a fun sci-fi tale in the vein of Ready Player One, it’s primarily about disability.

As a writer who has only five percent vision left in my good eye, I wanted to write something to capture the experience of living with a disability.

I’ve read a lot of book featuring blind characters (rarely protagonists), and I’ve yet to come across a blind character who feels real.

So, I decided to mash together a love letter to gaming (something I can no longer do), with a story and main character I hope will resonate as true without being preachy, especially to other readers living with disabilities.

Cyber Fighter metaphorically explores the over-reliance of technology to acquire knowledge and skills. The idea that you can download mastery directly to your brain (like an app) without putting in the work, and the weaponization of that technology, creating a new worldwide threat. With how we are all connected digitally over the internet and social media, what if you could take that tech and apply it to real life? The book merges sci-fi elements with the martial arts, using familiar tropes and humor to create a fun adventure. It's part kung-fu movie, with the flavor of a spy thriller with a dash of cyberpunk. Favorite genres blended into a melting pot. This novel is based on a feature film script being developed into a movie.

The Problem with Uncle Teddy's Memoir

This is officially an "epistolary novel," made of letters, email, office notes, as well as the manuscript pages of the memoir. It's not usually the way sci-fi stories are told (though the original Dracula was!). The memoir has the point of view of the titular alien, but the interleaving pages concern how two human friends deal with the memoir and the uncomfortable memories it stirs up. Originally written as a standalone novel, The Problem with Uncle Teddy's Memoir became the first volume of The Aleronde Trilogy, simply because the characters wouldn't leave me alone.
