#Review: Sands of Thyme by EM Lynley #MMRomance #GayRomance #BookTalk

Burke Williams wasn't planning on a vacation, but when his well-meaning sister lures him to the airport and hands him a plane ticket and a packed suitcase the day after he finishes a high-pressure programming project, he decides to hop on the plane and go.

#Review: Sands of Thyme by EM Lynley #MMRomance #GayRomance #BookTalkNever in his wildest dreams did he imagine a place like Cockatoo, a clothing-optional gay beach resort. For a guy more at home with a hard drive than happy hour, he feels like a fish out of water on the Caribbean island.

Only one other guy at the place seems to be enjoying it less than Burke: a handsome guy more interested in looking through his binoculars at the woods surrounding the resort than at the array of available Speedo-clad men laid out in rows of beach chairs, a veritable Smorgasbord of willing partners.

Stafford Nelson didn't come to Cocaktoo to find a temporary bedmate, but he finds geeky Burke sweet and charming, and they hit it off immediately. But when Burke discovers what Staff is really after, it might shipwreck their blossoming connection.

Sands of Thyme

A wonderful book with a charming tale of unexpected romance set against the backdrop of a clothing-optional resort. Burke Williams, a reserved programmer, finds himself transported to a vibrant Caribbean island by his sister's well-meaning intervention. The contrast between his structured life and the carefree atmosphere of Cockatoo is both amusing and endearing.

The interaction between Burke and Stafford Nelson, another guest who seems equally out of place, forms the heart of the story. Their initial connection is both sweet and genuine, drawing readers into their evolving relationship. Stafford's withdrawn conduct and Burke's awkwardness create an enjoyable and relatable dynamic.

As the two navigate their feelings in this odd setting, Sands of Thyme reveals an unfolding story of discovering love where it's least expected. The lighthearted search for identity and connection, set in a lively resort, adds a layer of warmth to the plot. Lynley's writing invites readers to celebrate the joy of new experiences and the power of connection.

Sands of Thyme offers a refreshing take on love at first sight in a unique and engaging environment, making it a delightful read for those who love playful romances.

Careful not to move, he waited, listening, but the room didn’t feel… safe #SciFiRomance #PlotTwist #MFRWhooks

Her Crystal Clear Truth by Kayelle Allen #SciFiRomance #Bodyguard

In this scene from Her Crystal Clear Truth, Joe has returned to his hotel and is getting ready for bed.

An intuitive sense of trouble kicked in

Her Crystal Clear Truth by Kayelle Allen #SciFi #RomanceAs Joe prepared to shower, some innate sense of trouble made him go back, pick up his mother's diary, and tuck it beneath the couch cushions. After he'd cleaned up and dressed in sleep pants, he wandered back into his room, yawning. Out of boredom, he picked up the diary again.

He retrieved a beer from the mini-bar, plopped onto the couch and put his feet up. He opened the chilled drink and took a tentative sip. Not as good as what he had back home, but it would do. He set the drink on a small table beside the couch and opened the book.

Meeting Shohn Lexius had eased his mind about involving idBot. The moment he'd learned she was a Kin, he'd considered forgetting the entire thing. He'd dealt with enough Kin females to know they viewed a male with a brain as an amusing oddity. He hadn't expected a Kin female without a hook knife at her side, or beads in her hair. And she'd talked about gender equality. For humans, that was an obvious thing, but on the Kin homeworld? Revolutionary. The kicker, however? She treated their Kin server with respect and was his mentor. Now that was putting actions to words.

Could she still be imperious and commanding? Of that, he had no doubt. Yet she'd related to him throughout dinner as an equal, and never once treated him with condescension.

Had to admire anyone going against cultural mores to right a wrong. Plus, only a fool would deny Shohn Lexius was one beautiful female. People had called him many things, but never a fool.

He tucked the diary between himself and the back of the couch, pulled out his tablet and read through the notes he'd made about finding his birth mother. After a few notations, he sent them to Shohn.

He opened a new reference book on fluid mechanics, but before long, his eyes kept closing. At some point, while still on the couch, he drifted off, and woke with a start.

He kept still a moment, unsure what had jerked him awake. But then that intuitive sense he'd learned not to ignore swam to the surface.

Careful not to move, he waited, listening.

No sound.

Still, the room didn't feel right.

Didn't feel safe.

He'd never been able to explain it, but he knew when someone felt a certain way, or what they would do. When someone he knew sent a text, he'd pick up on their mood. Both curse and gift.

He'd long since given up trying to explain and just trusted his gut.

What was different here?

No smell.

No breeze.

Just a dead, skin-tingling silence that felt...wrong.

Joe lifted his head.

The door to the hallway had the usual safety hologram, his not glowing. His travel preferences would have overridden the glow. He couldn't sleep with lights on.

On his left, the bed had been turned down but not slept in. His travel bag sat on the end, as it had earlier.

On the right, the back of the couch hid most of the door to the bathroom, but it stood open.

All the lights had gone out, but that was the room's AI sensing he slept. Nothing unusual there. He hadn't moved enough to trigger them.

When he pushed himself up, it changed his angle of view on the oversized framed mirror across the room.

In the reflection, a man in black looked back.

A Boon by Moonlight by Nicola M Cameron #MMRomance #Fantasy #Elves

Ex-Marine Zach Mayhew is willing to do anything for his dying grandmother. When she asks him to find a fairy ring in the forest and beg that she be allowed to spend her last days in Faerie, he obliges her (even though he thinks it's nuts).

A Boon by Moonlight by Nicola M Cameron #MMRomance #Fantasy #ElvesBut when a gorgeous Sidhe noble steps out of the ring and asks for a night in his bed in return, Zach learns that history has a way of repeating itself, and a boon asked by moonlight can have unexpected consequences for his heart.

A Boon by Moonlight

A Boon by Moonlight by Nicola M Cameron is a story of love beyond the boundaries of the everyday world. The story begins with ex-Marine Zach Mayhew, whose devotion to his dying grandmother drives him to embark on a quest that introduces him to a realm of enchantment and possibility.

Cameron weaves the essence of the Fae with human emotions of longing and sacrifice, creating an enchanting and relatable tale. Her prose allows readers to immerse in the story's atmosphere while connecting with its characters.

Zach's journey into a world he at first finds absurd leads him to encounter a Sidhe noble, whose allure and charm bring unexpected depth to the tale. The interplay between their two worlds relays their love and commitment, and the magical background raises the emotional stakes.

Zach navigates the implications of a boon asked by moonlight, revealing the transformative power of love and the possibilities of embracing the unknown.

A Boon by Moonlight is a delightful short story that blends fantasy with heartfelt emotion, offering a quick and uplifting reading experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

#Review: The Warlock Billionaire's Soulmate by Jack Brightside #MMRomance #PNRBetween his magic and his billion dollar company, Redford doesn't have time for dating.

Redford swore off dating mortals after he watched his last partner die three centuries ago. As the CEO of a billion-dollar company he doesn't have time to meet people, so he casts an enchantment to summon his soulmate.

His soulmate turns out to be Conway, a broke Coloradan who works sixty-hour weeks as a bartender. He's also the reincarnation of Redford's lover from three hundred years ago.

They day after they meet, Redford receives a divination that Conway is fated to die at the end of the month. He sees a chance to do what he couldn't three hundred years ago: to save the man he loves. In the meantime, he's got to make his soulmate fall in love with him.

This MM paranormal romance features an HEA and lots of laughs.

Expect kink, forced proximity, fated lovers, magic, classic billionaire tropes, and wholesome Colorado content.

The Warlock Billionaire's Soulmate

This book was a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t sure how magic, billionaires, and reincarnation would work together, but it was entertaining and easy to read. Redford is likable, despite being rich and magical. His romance with Conway is sweet and funny.

I especially liked Conway’s easy-going and relatable personality, compared to Redford’s more serious side. Paranormal elements blend well with the modern world, making the entire story smooth. The humor feels natural and helps keep things fun, even with the looming fate hanging over Conway. The pair’s chemistry is believable and never forced, and the happy ending fits their story.

Everything wrapped up without loose ends or confusion. This is a fun, easygoing gay romance novel. Recommended.

Who are the people in this image? #SciFiRomance #PlotTwist #MFRWhooks

Her Crystal Clear Truth by Kayelle Allen #SciFiRomance #Bodyguard

In this scene from Her Crystal Clear Truth, Shohn and Joe are meeting for dinner and to discuss how Shohn's company, idBot, can help Joe find the person he's looking for.

Who are these people?

Her Crystal Clear Truth by Kayelle Allen #SciFi #RomanceThe pleasant meal and minimal small talk gave way to a dessert of cheesecake, a Batchelors specialty. Over the last few scrapes of forks against plates, Shohn asked Joe who he hoped to find.

He brought out a flatpic from an inside pocket. "Read the words on the back, if you can make them out."

"It says, OUR SON'S MOTHER, 4640. Who are the people in this image?"

"The adults are my parents. That was taken at a picnic just before I was born. I have corroborating evidence that puts them there on that same date. They're in a few more photographs too. Bad lighting and focus, but I recognize them."

"On what planet?"

"Trien. My parents were both teaching there at the time. Mother communication and my father climate systems. The party where this was taken was apparently on the surface, at some kind of park. You can see clouds and trees."

Saint-Cyr's "upstairs garden" came to mind. "Were they stationed on the FIST?"

"Yes. For two years."

"Then this was likely taken on the station, rather than the surface. The Facility for Interstellar Ships and Transports has tighter security than the TCF or even idBot. No one's allowed planetside. Once you're on the station, you're on the station. But they have several parks where people can go that simulate being outdoors."

"I had no idea. If she was on the FIST, there should be records."

"I can't imagine why not. You think this is your birth mother?"

"I have DNA evidence that proves I'm not their biological son." He slid the dessert plate aside. "I'm in town to speak at a conference this week. One of my first forays back into work. I was hoping you'd be able to investigate her disappearance while I'm here."

"When you say disappearance, what do you mean?"

"I can't find information about her. It's like she popped into being for that photograph and then slipped away again. There are no records, no recollections." He braced both elbows on the table. "I'm a scientist. I'm used to searching for facts. I deal with details. I hypothesize, theorize, and research. I know this will sound crazy, but it's like someone has tried to erase her existence. There's nothing about her anywhere. No name. Nothing. Even among those who were at the event, no one remembers her or my parents being there." He reached over and touched the photo. "I had a photoborg test this. It's a real image. Not faked. They were there. I didn't know she might have been on the FIST itself. Do you think they'll have records?"

"Possibly. Likely." Her operative had done an excellent job steering him to her. Thankful Joe couldn't smell her emotions, she tamped down the pleasure at having the opportunity to work with him. "I'm curious for my own reasons," she admitted. "I like a puzzle, and this certainly is one. You're passionate about this." She reached over and rested a hand on his for a brief moment. "You deserve to know."

"Then you'll take the job?"

She'd already decided before showing up, but it wouldn't do to reveal that. "Your need captured my attention. I will do my best to find her."

As if all the tension went out of him at once, Joe sank back in his seat. "Thank you. You don't know how much this means to me. I dislike coming up against brick walls where there should be doors."

"Oh, now that I can relate to. Do you have digital copies of these images?"

"Yes. Do you need them now?"

"Please." She picked up her mobile and pointed it at his while he cast the images toward her. A quick examination showed everything had transferred. She sent them straight to her secure work vault. "The images are higher resolution than I'm accustomed to. They won't be difficult to use for searches. Discreet searches."

"When can you start?"

"As soon as we leave this table. I'll contact you with an update, good or bad, by tomorrow afternoon. Count on it."

#Review: Wildfire by Sam Burns and WM Fawkes #MMRomance #Mythology

#Review: Wildfire by Sam Burns and WM Fawkes #MMRomance #Mythology

#Review: Wildfire by Sam Burns and WM Fawkes #MMRomance #MythologyWilder Pratt has given up trying to get his life together. Passed up for a promotion, left by his long-term boyfriend, nothing in his life seems to work how he planned. Wilder is just treading water...right up until the moment he trips over a dead student outside his office with a golden would-be murderer standing over the body.

Hermes has been running his whole life—from duty and danger, from a father who mistrusts him and siblings who outshine him. But when the students at Banneker College of magic start dropping dead one after another, Hermes's ass is on the line. He finds himself playing bodyguard to a man who suspects him of murder, but that doesn't seem enough to keep Professor Pratt's hot hands off him.

An ancient evil has risen from the depths of Tartarus, and it's coming for Banneker. The only thing standing in the way of a titanic apocalypse is one disappointing part-time professor and a god who'd rather abandon the world to its fate. But if they work together, they may just save everyone.

Wildfire

Wilder Pratt, the main character in Wildfire, feels like someone you could meet in real life, struggling to catch a break. His life takes a wild turn when he literally stumbles into some serious chaos at his college. The mix of humor and drama kept me engaged, and Wilder's journey was relatable. I couldn't help but root for him as he tried to navigate his messy life and find his purpose.

Then you have Hermes, who adds another layer to this story. He's got his own set of problems and so much family baggage. So much! Their chemistry is on the page right from the start, and watching their relationship unfold was fun. The banter between them feels natural as they grow closer amidst the turmoil.

The plot kept me on my toes with the suspenseful twist of an ancient evil threatening everything. The blend of magic and real-world issues gives the story a unique vibe. A re-readable mix of romance, humor, and a dash of mythology that makes for an enjoyable time. Definitely worth checking out.

#Review: Sea and Sky by Morgan Lysand #MMRomance #MerMay #Merfolk

Prince Gavin, third son of the king has been denied the Grand Mage status he's sought for seven years. Finally, the king decides to grant him a Task that would lead to him receiving the recognition he deserves. Unfortunately, there's a pesky arranged marriage to deal with.

When Kyler saves the charming prince from drowning, Gavin asks him to play his lover for a month to get out of marrying a princess from another land. Kyler agrees after Gavin offers him a favor. A favor Kyler intends to take full advantage of.

Will Kyler gain his freedom or will the captain keep him forever? Can Gavin protect his heart and become a Grand Mage or will he be torn apart by betrayal?

This sweet and steamy MM fantasy romance features a lonely, broken merman and a dragon prince who is not as arrogant as he seems...

Sea & Sky

This book by Morgan Lysand was a fun read. The story is about Kyler, a merfolk trying to break free from his past, and Gavin, a prince stuck in a tough spot. Their relationship starts with the prince and the mer both needing aid.

The fantasy setting was established in chapter one, with shifters, magical potions, and spells to create light and illusions. Kyler established himself as a strong person, doing whatever he needed to do to survive.

Prince Gavin was a scholar, fascinated by merfolk, and bringing the two together made perfect sense. Each needed help and escape from their circumstances, and by working together, they created a believable ruse. But how long could the ruse be simply a ruse?

The mix of magic, royalty, and pirates gives it a fresh vibe, and the balance between serious moments and lighter ones kept my interest.

If you like imaginative fantasy romance and merfolk, you'll love this story.

“It must have been a shock” #SciFiRomance #MFRWhooks

Her Crystal Clear Truth by Kayelle Allen #SciFiRomance #Bodyguard

In this scene, Shohn and Joe meet for dinner and to discuss how Shohn's company, idBot, can help Joe find the person he's looking for. He's just admitted that as a terraformer and scientist, he thinks firestorms have personal agendas. Shohn's boss, Luc Saint-Cyr would be thrilled to know this, since he knows the truth behind the firestorms. Shohn keeps Joe talking, letting him express his feelings.

Her Crystal Clear Truth by Kayelle Allen #SciFi #RomanceIt must have been a shock

"I read about the death of your parents. It must have been a shock, being so sudden."

"It was." Joe traced the lip of his goblet. "I've existed in an absolute daze. Most people say how sorry they are for your loss. Offer condolences. I heard it so much I was numb. You know? I couldn't hear the meaning anymore, just the words. All the people I work with also worked with my father. They knew my mother. They knew me since childhood. I was always underfoot during my dad's field work, growing up."

"Your family was close." How she envied that. Missed what she'd once had.

"We were. I worked on every firestorm research project you can think of. But because of my father's theories, his death raised an invisible wall between myself and my colleagues. They treat me like I'm fragile glass. Some days it feels like I'm lost at sea. No sign of a harbor anywhere." He cleared his throat. "Sorry. I didn't mean to ramble."

"Please, don't apologize." She set down her goblet. "I understand better than most what it's like to lose someone under tragic circumstances."

"Do you?" He sipped the wine.

"When I was a girl, the big brother I idolized killed himself."

"I'm so sorry." Joe laid a hand over his heart. "Oh, my god. I just talked about how I hated hearing that and then I go and say it to you."

"It's all right. Saying it is a reflex, but most people don't know what to say next." She flicked one ear. "It's awkward."

He released a long sigh, shoulders slumping. "Is it true that time takes it away?"

Running a fingertip along the lip of her goblet, Shohn shook her head. "It becomes less sharp. Less piercing. But it still hurts. Sometimes a random comment brings it back. The other day, someone was talking about doing a task she didn't want to do, and said, 'If I have to do that I'd sooner kill myself.' She had no idea how her words stung. A slap of ice water in the face. I wish I could give you the time or date when you'll be able to think about their deaths and it doesn't stab you in the gut." She set a fist over her belly. "It'll take a while. In Kin culture, males are gaining rights, but not nearly fast enough. Ours is a repressive society, and that repression is why my brother killed himself. I'm trying to do my part to bring about equality. I'm determined not to let his death be in vain." What was wrong with her, sharing intimate details like that? "Sorry. It's not like me to open up."

New Assistant? A demon. No, literally #MMRomance #PNR

My Demon Assistant by Stella Rainbow #MMRomance #PNR

Demons made great assistants. I'd know, I had one...

When I first met my new assistant, I thought he was a little strange, but ultimately a good employee.

My Demon Assistant by Stella Rainbow #MMRomance #PNRHe was on-time everyday, brought me homemade cookies, and did his work diligently. While he had a tendency to get his phrases and words mixed up, he was ultimately a good assistant.

Until the day I saw him bleeding and half-dead, and discovered a whole other side of him. When he told me he was a demon, and that I was his fated mate? Everything changed.

Finding out the two people I loved and trusted the most in this world had already known and kept it a secret from me didn't help, but it also couldn't stop me from falling for my strange, wonderful assistant.
