One of the best ways to support authors is to buy their books. But what if you're short on cash and long on the need to read? Here are 10 easy ways you can support your favorite author.

  1. Take a selfie of yourself with their book and share it online.
  2. Visit their website.
  3. Request their book from the library.
  4. Send an "I'm a fan" email.
  5. Call or visit a local bookstore and request their book.
  6. Review their book.
  7. Nominate them for awards.
  8. Add their book to your BookBub or Goodreads "want to read" lists.
  9. Subscribe to their newsletter.
  10. When you finish a book, if you can part with it, share it in a "free trade library". Some coffeeshops have "Take a book, Leave a book" shelves.

If you can buy their books, see if they offer them direct to you. This might save you money and the author will keep a higher commission. Win-win!
