I didn’t report on Sunday because I had an Easter themed blog up for a hop. So today covers an entire week.
The challenge is turning out to be a wonderful encouragement for me. The people have been helpful and kind, and I’m gaining discipline in my writing.
At 2pm, I get offline and take one solid hour without interruptions, and write. It often stretches into longer periods. During that hour, I create new work. The other time periods are for editing and tweaking.
It isn’t as hard to write as I thought it would be. For whatever reason, I thought it would be hard for me to be creative while a clock was ticking, but I’ve been surprised each time the alarm goes off and the time is up. I’m always eager to get back to it once I reset the alarm.
I’m enjoying writing again, and that is the biggest surprise of all. I’ve written four chapters, edited multiple pages, written six blog articles, critiqued three chapters for my crit group, and created a video for my company. I also studied a book on how to write non-fiction. A productive week, and one whose lessons I look forward to repeating. Thanks to the Row80 crew for putting this idea into practice.
Aww, so glad that the timed writing is working out for you! It’s important to enjoy writing. Otherwise, if we didn’t, we’d be a bunch of miserable people. π
True, Suzan. I hadn’t been happy for some time, but didn’t understand why. When I saw the Row80 challenge, I decided to try it. So pleased with the changes I’ve seen. Appreciate you dropping by.
I’m glad to hear that ROW80 is working out for you. We’re a bunch of good eggs but crazy sometimes π Not only are you enjoying writing again, you’re kicking butt! Great week. Keep it coming!
Thanks, Ryan! I just subbed a chapter to my crit group. ^_^ Rockin out this week!
Rayelle, that is wonderful that you’re getting your happy writing mojo back! ROW80 is nothing if not supportive. Good luck in the coming week – hope you had a great Easter. π
Thanks Jenny. I did. Had a fun day with family. I’ve been encouraged every day since joining this challenge. One of the best things I’ve done.
Hi Kayelle!
Glad to hear that you are enjoying the ROW80 community – I am too. Everyone is super wonderful and I’m so very excited about everyone’s goals.
Great job with getting into writing again! I had taken about a year off from actively writing a little while ago… I only recently made the decision that I don’t like who I am when I don’t write. With work and school taking up most of my time, it’s hard to get the writing time in there… but, as Jurassic Park taught us… life finds a way.
Good luck the rest of this week!
So true! it does indeed. Thanks, Dahnya. π
I’m glad too that ROW80 is working for you. I know what you mean about the clock ticking and feeling it might stunt the creative juices but I love being able to say ‘I have spent an entire hour writing’. Glad you are finding that the words are flowing. Keep up the good work π
Thanks, Em! It does feel good, doesn’t it! ^_^ I look forward to my writing time and have been amazed that when I put that in high priority, the other things in my life order themselves around it. I find that I’m aware I have to go and write, so I quickly finish up other things so I can. I’ve gotten more done. Before, the day would be over and I hadn’t written anything all day. Now, I know I will get it done. It’s a good feeling.
