Stachien

Colonial Survey Record: Non-Aligned Territory

Stachien is characterized by extensive grasslands across its central and southern regions. The Kellindahr Plains support dense seasonal growth, including diverse flowering species. Freshwater streams traverse the plains, sustaining agriculture and settlement.

Northern regions are dominated by the Denauerman Mountains, a high, jagged range that restricts overland transit. The terrain is largely impassable. Valleys within the range remain sparsely mapped. Persistent local legends associate these areas with pre-Imperial habitation.

At the southern base of the mountains lies Lake Chon, an enclosed freshwater body fed primarily by the Sammon River. The lake supports abundant aquatic life and functions as a primary resource hub for surrounding communities.

In the northwest, the country of Qarth occupies territory adjacent to the mountain range. Settlement patterns reflect long-term proximity to a site known locally as the Gates of Lifeβ€”two freestanding arches constructed from an unidentified metallic alloy. The structure predates current regional governance. No functional purpose has been confirmed.

Local belief systems attribute the Gates to interaction with entities referred to as the fae. Cultural observances are concentrated around seasonal solstices, during which communal gatherings occur at the site. Increased population density and ceremonial activity are recorded during these intervals.

Immediately north of the Gates lies the city of Pleenth, which serves as a temporary population center during solstice periods. Travel to the site is voluntary and culturally reinforced.

Debate persists regarding a traditional rite involving the presentation of newborns beneath the Gates. The practice is neither universally observed nor uniformly opposed. Its continuation reflects internal division rather than external enforcement.

Stachien’s civic life integrates environmental conditions, inherited structures, and belief-based customs. No formal determination has been made regarding the existence or influence of extra-dimensional entities.

Draconic Presence

Fossil records across Stachien confirm the prior existence of large, non-native reptilian megafauna consistent with regional accounts of dragons. Skeletal remains indicate repeated habitation across multiple geological periods rather than a single extinction event.

Contemporary reappearance of live specimens has been documented during solstice intervals. These occurrences correlate spatially with the Gates of Life and temporally with heightened environmental anomalies.

The mechanism governing draconic absence and return remains unverified.

Observed phenomena exceed current classification.
