Sempervia: Ever-Living Richness

Sempervia, aptly named "ever-living," resembles Earth. Located on the farthest outskirts of the galaxy, terraformers originally intended to use it as a resource-rich territory for lumber and game. When the genetically enhanced beings known as the Ultras surrendered or were captured, its terraforming halted. What remains of the vibrant yet unfinished world serves as a natural prison for humanity's greatest enemy. The planet's ecosystems, however, continue to thrive, despite the fledgling terraforming process and the atmospheric challenges it faces.

A rudimentary settlement nestled within a rocky landscape, the camp on Sempervia provides basic shelter for its inhabitants. Exiled because of the treachery of humans, the dozen Ultras forage for food, killing small game when needed. Caves, partially obscured by the surrounding terrain, house deactivated cryopods, which serve as sleeping platforms. Three stripped pods stand upright in a semi-circle around a campfire. The powered units provide minimal light. Among the caves, the Ultras cleared thorny weeds, but the wilderness remains untamed, adding an element of danger and intrigue.

As they explored, they discovered Ayoli Crater, a vast, breathtaking natural formation. Resembling a giant cradle with steep sides that plunge to a level bottom, it measures thirty-one miles in diameter and six hundred feet deep. A patchwork of deserts and plains intersperse with lush forests and greenery. A high, slender waterfall on the far side cascades into a large lake at its base. Small lakes and marshes dot the landscape, providing a rich habitat for wildlife. Herds of antelope graze the plains. Thick with the scent of damp earth and alien flora, the caldera provides mute evidence of the planet's volcanic past.

Atop the outer ring of the caldera, sounds of wildlife carry through a dense forest. The buzz of insects and caw of birds fills the air. Together, these geographical features paint a picture of an untouched and vibrant world, awaiting exploration by those brave enough to venture into its wild heart.

Yet the isolation remains a constant reminder of the betrayal that landed them here. Despite these harsh conditions, the camp thrives as a hub of resilience and camaraderie. The Ultras strategize how to reclaim their lost heritage, forging a path forward in their struggle for survival.
