#Review: Scrum by PD Singer #MMRomance #SportsRomanceOne look at the Canadian rugby star now playing on his local team turns Robin Isley into a super-fan. He’ll attend practices, cheer every game, and bleed with every tackle, but he won’t come close enough to get an autograph or say a few words.

Yves Dubois' team runs faster, passes better, and scrums harder when Robin watches: they’ve been winning steadily. Yves has a blinding smile for Robin after practices, but never stops to talk.

Robin needs to know if Yves’ grin is only joy in the game. Finding out will be Robin’s birthday milestone, but first he needs to give himself the gift of courage.

Scrum

I don't usually read sports romances, but this one caught my eye. I read it in one sitting. The characters were fun to read about, and there was a fun, unexpected twist at the end. I knew nothing about rugby when I started reading this book, and still don't know much, but I do have a healthy respect for the sport now. The story is told from one point of view, which is necessary considering the twist at the end. PD Singer did a great job of showing us a character who loves from afar, but who wants to get closer. What happens when he does makes for a wonderful love story.

This book is a fun read that dives into the world of rugby and the unexpected connections that form both on and off the field. Robin Isley has a huge crush on Yves Dubois, a local rugby star. The way Robin obsesses over Yves' games adds a humorous touch. You feel the thrill as Robin becomes his number one fan, attending practices and cheering with enthusiasm.

What's great here is the gradual development of Robin's character. He starts off shy and unsure but works to step out of his comfort zone. The chemistry between Robin and Yves simmers and I enjoyed the subtleties in their interactions. Yves' warm smiles towards Robin made the sexual tension between them believable.

The pacing kept me engaged, making it impossible to put the book down. Although the rugby backdrop is a big part of the story, the main story is the emotional exploration of Robin's courage. The writing has a relaxed vibe. If you're looking for a light romance with a sports vibe, pick up Scrum.

#Review: Sword Dance by AJ Demas #MMRomance #Mythology

#Review: Sword Dance by AJ Demas #MMRomance #MythologyFive years ago, Damiskos's brilliant military career was cut short, leaving him with a permanent disability and scars that are not all physical. Adrift and still grieving, he tries to find meaning in an unsatisfying job.

Work takes him to the remote seaside villa of an old friend, where, among an odd assortment of guests, he meets the eunuch sword-dancer Varazda. Enigmatic and beautiful but distinctly prickly, Varazda is the antithesis of the straightforward and serious Damiskos. Yet as they keep getting in each other's way at the villa, their mutual dislike is complicated by a spark of undeniable attraction.

Then the villa's guests begin to reveal their true characters and motives—no one here is what they seem—and Damiskos finds himself at the centre of a bizarre web of espionage, theft, and assassination. Varazda may need Damiskos's help, but not as much as Damiskos, finally awakening to a new sense of life and purpose, needs Varazda.

Sword Dance is the first book in the Sword Dance trilogy, an m/nb romance set in an imaginary ancient world, with murderous philosophy students, sex acts named after fruit, and love blossoming in the midst of mayhem.

Sword Dance

I read this book several years ago, and decided to go back to it. Sword Dance is a change of pace for anyone who loves gay romance mixed with history and mythology. Damiskos struggles to find purpose after losing his military life and gaining a permanent disability. Varazda comes across as thorny and has a mysterious background. Their chemistry feels natural, slowly building to sweet and believable.

What sets this book apart is how it blends romance with mythology and espionage, woven with a touch of humor. Clever surprises keep things interesting. The secondary characters add to the story without overshadowing the lead pair. Sword Dance offers a promise for more fun adventures to come.

#Review: Exposed by Bey Deckard #MMRomance #HotRead

#Review: Exposed by Bey Deckard #MMRomance #HotRead

With middle-age looming, Greg offsets his boring day job with what truly feeds his soul: photography. The camera is an extension of himself where he exposes his passion for the intersect of pleasure and pain. However, the lens also acts as a barrier, protecting his subjects from the shameful mistakes of his past, and Greg is left isolated and lonely.

#Review: Exposed by Bey Deckard #MMRomance #HotReadEmyr stands on the cusp of fame, but adulation and abuse are both eroding his confidence, and one night, at the river's edge, he seeks solace in the rain, hoping to hide his tears.

The photographer and the virgin rock star share an accidental connection on that dark, drizzly night. When Greg invites Emyr back to his hotel room, no strings attached, the young man should have bolted. Instead, an odd sense of trust allows him to follow Greg's lead.

When the camera comes out, Emyr learns the stage isn't the only place he loves to perform as Greg touches something inside him that rarely awakens. Faced with a beautiful, talented boy whose soul is as lonely as his own, will Greg be able to face his past and come to terms with it, or will he run from the connection he so desperately desires?

Exposed

Exposed by Bey Deckard is an exploration of vulnerability and connection between two complex people. Greg, a photographer with a past, finds solace in capturing life through his camera. His craft acts as both a shield and expression, reflecting his deep-seated loneliness and desire for connection.

Emyr, the budding rock star on the brink of fame, is equally haunted by his experiences, seeking refuge from the pressures surrounding him.

The chance meeting between Greg and Emyr unfolds in a tale that captures a moment of unexpected intimacy. Their journey reveals the healing power of trust and the importance of facing one's past.

As Greg guides Emyr through the lens of his camera, the relationship deepens, illustrating how art and love can intertwine to illuminate the darkest corners. The author relays themes of shame, identity, and the quest for acceptance, creating a portrait of two men willing to embrace their vulnerabilities.

As an author myself, I find it hard to read a book without my inner editor getting in the way. When I find a book written so well that it dispels that urge to "fix" something, I look for more by that author. I have already lined up a few more by Bey Deckard.

Exposed is a hot romance between a thirty-something photographer and an almost 20-something rockstar. I felt immersed in the concert and could hear the music.

Not gonna lie, I picked up this book for its dramatic cover. Once I read the blurb, I decided to read a few pages. I'm not a fan of "daddy-kink" but this book was so well written, it didn't matter. The relationships felt real and the emotion right at the surface. I highly recommend Exposed if you like MM, gay romance, rockstars, or age-gap romances.

#Review: Edge of Darkness by MA Church #MMRomance #Dragons #Fantasy

Sometimes the dragon gods make mistakes.

That's the best rationale Hudson can come up with. How else can he account for the fact that the one he's falling in love with is not his fated mate? Getting involved with someone he doesn't share a soul bond with could be devastating, but Hudson is willing to take the risk. Connie is his and nothing will stand in his way of having him.

#Review: Edge of Darkness by MA Church #MMRomance #Dragons #FantasySometimes the dragon gods might be more clever than anyone gives them credit for.

A sassy human stumbles into Hudson and Connie's life, upsetting their very existence. How can Hudson and Connie have a soul bond to Kit… but not each other? Are the Fates drunk? Or testing them? Dragons are possessive creatures, and that's before adding in one of them is a thousand-year-old royal in charge of the dragons of San DeLain.

Sometimes it's better not to question the dragon gods.

But things aren't always as they appear. Danger stalks the streets of San DeLain in the form of an old enemy once thought dead. What's real? What isn't? As Kit struggles with a nightmare from his past, Hudson and Connie try to figure out how to keep their very breakable human in one-piece and happy. Fate is a tricky, tricky thing, and sometimes? Well, sometimes Hudson has just gotta trust the dragon gods as the darkness edges closer.

Edge of Darkness

MA Church's book mixes fantasy and romance in a way that really hits the mark. Hudson is a dragon facing a bit of a dilemma because he's fallen for Connie, who isn't his destined partner. This sets off a chain of events that keeps things interesting. Hudson's willingness to go against the norms of dragon lore gives an exciting twist to their relationship.

The addition of Kit, an unexpected and quirky human, changes the dynamic in a big way. It's entertaining to see how Hudson deals with this new reality.

Church's writing makes the world of dragons feel real. The backstory adds depth without being overwhelming, and there's just enough tension to keep pages turning. Plus, the element of danger gives it an edge.

If you're into a light, engaging read that blends heart and fantasy, this book is worth checking out. The charming characters interact with sparkling humor and warmth. This is a fun escape with just the right amount of magic.

#Review: Strike A Chord by TL Travis #MMRomance #Rockstar

#Review: Strike A Chord by TL Travis #MMRomance #Rockstar

#Review: Strike A Chord by TL Travis #MMRomance #RockstarJosh Gray has made bad decisions and regretted them all, but it's the rock 'n roll lifestyle, so no problem, right? However, karma is a bitch.

Mistake one…sleeping with the then boyfriend of the lead singer of one of the top bands, Social Sinners, which leads to Josh being fired as Ryder Hampton's backup guitarist.

Mistake two…signing on with Nicholas Shane Management, who promises a new band that's the perfect fit. It turns out Nick is dealing dirty, and his company collapses when he's sent to prison.

Josh's world is in ruins and starting over is next to impossible. Word gets around that he's screwed over rock 'n roll's poster children, and he can't get an audition. The future is now an endless stream of empty whiskey bottles, and a surly server that no matter how hard Josh tries, refuses to sleep with him.

If you've read the Social Sinners or Maiden Voyage series, you'll understand the tough road that lies ahead for Josh. Is redemption possible, or should he just throw in the towel and walk away once and for all?

This is book one in the Chaotic Abyss rockstar romance series featuring hurt/comfort, second chances, and a bartender who just wants to be left alone.

Strike a Chord

Josh Gray is far from perfect, but that's what makes him easy to connect with. He's made plenty of mistakes, and as I read, I hoped he'd find his way out of the latest mess. The rock and roll setting didn't sugar-coat the consequences of his past.

Even if you haven't checked out previous series like Social Sinners or Maiden Voyage, this story stands solid on its own. I enjoyed the dynamics with the bartender who kept shutting Josh down—it added humor and reality to the character interactions. The slow buildup of their relationship made the romantic payoff feel earned.

The writing is smooth, the characters relatable, and the romance believable. It's an enjoyable read that left me wanting more from the Chaotic Abyss series.

#Review: Until I Saw You by Dianna Roman #MMRomance #GayFiction

#Review: Until I Saw You by Dianna Roman #MMRomance #GayFiction

#Review: Until I Saw You by Dianna Roman #MMRomance #GayFictionAn MM romance story of survival, healing, and finding the courage to love.

Harper Reid has no money and nowhere to go, but he can't spend one more day under the same roof as his abusive boyfriend. Desperate to start fresh, he takes on a special case through a caregiver agency that contracts him. The client has fired everyone else, but this job includes lodging, so Harper will find a way to make it work until he's back on his feet.

High-flying, eccentric Riley Davenport has lost his sight, effectively clipping the vivacious man's wings. Learning to navigate in darkness is difficult enough without being treated like a house plant by his girlfriend, parents, and friends. The last thing he needs is another pushy caregiver hovering over him, curtailing the last of his freedom. But Harper Reid is different...very different.

Nervous, quiet, reserved. It's almost like Harper has secrets and is the one who needs to be taught how to live again. And why does he smell like sugar cookies? Men aren't supposed to smell delicious.

Trigger warnings: off-page domestic abuse, adult language, explicit consensual sexual content.

Until I Saw You

Harper and Riley are both likable characters, with a relationship that built slowly. They're each dealing with stuff, and the way they help each other feels natural. Roman does a marvellous job keeping the story flowing without relying on overly dramatic moments.

Harper's shy sweetness and the cookie references were a tender touch, and made his character real and warm.

I found the romance believable and genuine and I liked their chemistry right away. Their interactions had humor and warmth, making this story comforting and easy to read. I recommend to anyone who appreciates a slow-building, emotional romance that stays low key and feels authentic from beginning to end.

#Review Undressing the Duke by Erica Ridley #MMRomance #HistoricalRomance

#Review Undressing the Duke by Erica Ridley #MMRomance #HistoricalRomance

When the notoriously buttoned-up Duke of Southbury is forced to attend a matchmaking festival, he knows it will end in solitude—just like every soiree #Review Undressing the Duke by Erica Ridley #MMRomance #HistoricalRomanceand ball. The duke doesn't want a bride. He wants his charming French valet, Vachon. An untenable situation the duke refuses to admit, even to Vachon. The only way to avoid scandal—and the pull of temptation—is to dismiss his handsome valet before Southbury says or does something that cannot be taken back.

But Vachon has pined for his taciturn employer since the moment they met. When the duke announces his impending dismissal, Vachon has only a fortnight to change his mind… and convince the ton's model of propriety that love is worth breaking all the rules.

Undressing the Duke

#Review Undressing the Duke by Erica Ridley #MMRomance #HistoricalRomanceThis is not the first Erica Ridley book I've read, but it is certainly one of my favorites. I was scrolling down her list of books and suddenly stopped and scrolled back up. One cover had two men dressed in period clothing and it caught my eye immediately. Undressing the Duke? As in a valet? I took a second look. When I realized it was MM Romance by one of my favorite historical authors, I couldn't click the buy button fast enough. Her new cover has flowers on a solid background. If that had been the one I saw, I never would have taken that second look. It says nothing about the period, the characters, or the setting. It's a shame so many authors are going for "discreet" covers. It's taken away that immediate sense of genre and flavor.

Despite the bland cover, this is a beautiful love story with a happy ending that will leave you smiling. Written with all the style you'd expect from an Erica Ridley romance. The story is easy-going and sweet, focusing on two likable, relatable characters caught in a tough situation. The duke, usually reserved and proper, is secretly longing for his valet, Vachon, who feels exactly the same way. Ridley does a great job building their chemistry at a natural pace, and the interactions between the duke and Vachon had me smiling more than once. I enjoyed how Ridley explored issues of status and expectation without making it heavy. The matchmaking festival added a nice bit of humor and fun, complementing the main romance. The ending left me satisfied and happy for both men. It's a solid pick if you're into gay romance in historical settings.

Personally, I write MM Science Fiction, but I love reading MM Historical (especially Regency). So finding this book was an enormous treat. I can't recommend it highly enough.

#Review: Burn It Down by Jillian D Wray #MMRomance #GayRomance

Jacob Ellington

I've been bred for success.

As the CFO of my father's wealth management firm, I know exactly what's expected of me and the image I must uphold. To the outside world, my long-term girlfriend and I are beautiful, powerful, successful…and rich.

#Review: Burn It Down by Jillian D Wray #MMRomance #GayRomanceHowever, the suit I wear hides more than my cut physique. Living a lie has been the norm since I was a teenager. Although not ideal, I have a great woman by my side and a promising future. Everything is as it should be.

Until I cross paths with Dylan Ryder.

One look and everything I've worked so hard to conceal comes rushing to the surface.

One taste and I'm ready to burn my life as I know it to the ground.

Dylan Ryder

I'm used to being judged.

My Mexican-American heritage earns me some looks, my tattoos earn me others, and of course being on a date with another man ensures whoever wasn't staring because of the first two things, definitely is now.

But I haven't been on a date in a while.

With my family's automotive shop under attack from vandals I'm working longer hours to try and make ends meet as business keeps waning.

So, when I crumple the front-end of a Maserati at the grocery store, I really don't have the time or money to deal with it. But knowing it's the right thing to do, I offer to fix it anyway.

Wholly unprepared for the onslaught of lust as Jacob Ellington enters my life, I struggle to maintain control. However, as our paths continue to cross, I become unsure if I even want control anymore.

And when our mouths inevitably collide, he lights my world on fire. Literally.

Burn It Down

This lovely book features both the struggle for identity and handling desire. The story revolves around Jacob, a successful CFO, and Dylan, a tattooed mechanic navigating the complexities of life.

Jacob, trapped in a façade, finds himself drawn to Dylan, whose bold personality contrasts Jacob's hidden issues. Their connection grows from an unexpected encounter, bringing Jacob face to face with the truth about himself.

Wray captures the tension between society's expectations and personal happiness. The chemistry between Jacob and Dylan is tangible, inviting readers to root for their blossoming relationship. The contrasts in their backgrounds add richness to the themes of acceptance and self-discovery.

The writing flows like silk, allowing readers to immerse themselves in the characters' relationships without distractions. Wray builds a world where love transcends societal norms and personal insecurities. The emotional stakes are high, but the journey to self-acceptance unfolds naturally.

I found myself invested in Jacob and Dylan's story, eager to see how their paths unfold. This novel makes you believe in the transformative power of love and the absolute importance of living truthfully. I rarely read first person narratives, but this one captured my attention from the first sentence. Well written and highly recommended.

#Review: Sands of Thyme by EM Lynley #MMRomance #GayRomance #BookTalk

Burke Williams wasn't planning on a vacation, but when his well-meaning sister lures him to the airport and hands him a plane ticket and a packed suitcase the day after he finishes a high-pressure programming project, he decides to hop on the plane and go.

#Review: Sands of Thyme by EM Lynley #MMRomance #GayRomance #BookTalkNever in his wildest dreams did he imagine a place like Cockatoo, a clothing-optional gay beach resort. For a guy more at home with a hard drive than happy hour, he feels like a fish out of water on the Caribbean island.

Only one other guy at the place seems to be enjoying it less than Burke: a handsome guy more interested in looking through his binoculars at the woods surrounding the resort than at the array of available Speedo-clad men laid out in rows of beach chairs, a veritable Smorgasbord of willing partners.

Stafford Nelson didn't come to Cocaktoo to find a temporary bedmate, but he finds geeky Burke sweet and charming, and they hit it off immediately. But when Burke discovers what Staff is really after, it might shipwreck their blossoming connection.

Sands of Thyme

A wonderful book with a charming tale of unexpected romance set against the backdrop of a clothing-optional resort. Burke Williams, a reserved programmer, finds himself transported to a vibrant Caribbean island by his sister's well-meaning intervention. The contrast between his structured life and the carefree atmosphere of Cockatoo is both amusing and endearing.

The interaction between Burke and Stafford Nelson, another guest who seems equally out of place, forms the heart of the story. Their initial connection is both sweet and genuine, drawing readers into their evolving relationship. Stafford's withdrawn conduct and Burke's awkwardness create an enjoyable and relatable dynamic.

As the two navigate their feelings in this odd setting, Sands of Thyme reveals an unfolding story of discovering love where it's least expected. The lighthearted search for identity and connection, set in a lively resort, adds a layer of warmth to the plot. Lynley's writing invites readers to celebrate the joy of new experiences and the power of connection.

Sands of Thyme offers a refreshing take on love at first sight in a unique and engaging environment, making it a delightful read for those who love playful romances.

Ex-Marine Zach Mayhew is willing to do anything for his dying grandmother. When she asks him to find a fairy ring in the forest and beg that she be allowed to spend her last days in Faerie, he obliges her (even though he thinks it's nuts).

A Boon by Moonlight

A Boon by Moonlight by Nicola M Cameron is a story of love beyond the boundaries of the everyday world. The story begins with ex-Marine Zach Mayhew, whose devotion to his dying grandmother drives him to embark on a quest that introduces him to a realm of enchantment and possibility.

Cameron weaves the essence of the Fae with human emotions of longing and sacrifice, creating an enchanting and relatable tale. Her prose allows readers to immerse in the story's atmosphere while connecting with its characters.

Zach's journey into a world he at first finds absurd leads him to encounter a Sidhe noble, whose allure and charm bring unexpected depth to the tale. The interplay between their two worlds relays their love and commitment, and the magical background raises the emotional stakes.

Zach navigates the implications of a boon asked by moonlight, revealing the transformative power of love and the possibilities of embracing the unknown.
