How to Embed Instagram on WordPress in 6 Easy Steps #Instagram #WordPress

Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to embed Instagram posts on your WordPress website? There is!

How to Embed Instagram on WordPress

I found a great hack for Instagram while searching tips and tricks. I'm always open to learning new and better ways to do things. When I saw this, I knew I had to share it with you. I use Instagram for fun, and occasionally, I share something I'm working on. That's what the post at the left is all about. I was working on banners for my new book, A Stolen Heart, and thought I'd show one to my followers.

The post I'm showing here features Pietas, who was cosplayed by Nik Nitsvetov live on Instagram.

My curiosity about how to embed Instagram posts on a blog turned up a super easy way to do it.

6 Steps to Embed Instagram on WordPress

This is such an easy way to extend your reach with Instagram that I'm surprised more people don't do it. I found this hack on the website of the awesome Kim Garst. Be sure to check out her post "20 Instagram tricks that you probably don't know." It was fabulous. I followed Kim's instructions and it worked great. Here's how to do it yourself.

1. Go to the Instagram post you want to embed.

2. Look for 3 dots -- that's a mini-menu you can access. Click it.

3. In the drop down menu, click "Embed." Here, you have a choice whether to include the caption. For the example above, I did. The code will be super long, but Instagram lets you copy the code with one click, which makes it really easy.

4. Go to the WordPress blog post where you want to show this image.

5. Look for the tab at the top of the post window that says "text" and click it.

6. Paste the code.

That's it. Go back to visual, and you'll see the Instagram post on your blog. How cool is that?

I've been thinking about recording myself working on banners and then sharing the video here and on Instagram. What do you think? Would you be interested in seeing that? What other "How To" questions do you have? Let me know in the comments and if I don't know, I'll research it and see if I can help.

A Stolen Heart

When he rescues a half-human orphan, a glorified space pirate turned entrepreneur sets in motion a chain of events that threatens to topple the powerful Thieves' Guild he once led.

Multiple layers of conspiracy unfold, reaching all the way to Luc's immortal ex--the king. Behind each solved mystery looms an unseen foe, undoing the good Luc accomplishes. For the sake of this child, Luc must postpone his own freedom and master his desire for revenge or he will violate an ancient vow. Worse, he'll put the toddler at risk.

At war with his compassion for the vulnerable child, loyalty to the king, duty to the Guild, and the bright lure of freedom he's coveted for centuries, Luc seeks the right path. Will he choose liberty and unparalleled success, or restore the Thieves' Guild to its former glory while overseeing the child's training?

A hard choice for any man.

For an immortal whose inner monster can destroy on sight? Impossible.

A pirate with a monstrous past can never be trusted with an innocent child. Luc must ensure the child is protected, safe, nowhere near danger. Nowhere near him. Even if this little boy has already stolen his heart...

Scruffy: a scene from A Stolen Heart

(this book is coming soon)

In this scene from A Stolen Heart, Luc Saint-Cyr meets with his old friends, the mortals Flea and Gnat. Flea is button-down and proper; Gnat is the scruffy, button-missing, uncombed-hair type.

Luc loves them both, but Gnat holds a special place in his heart. (A Deshai is a trainee in the Thieves' Guild.)

Flea and Gnat are in their seventies. Being immortal, Luc has been reborn and is in his mid-forties in this lifetime. Although this pair has recognized him as their former mentor, they have never questioned him regarding it.

Scruffy

Flea and Gnat glanced at one another, gave a single nod. "One thing that's true," Flea told Luc. "We were born to rear and train Deshai. It's what we do. Of course we'll care for this boy."

"Agreed." Gnat wrapped one arm around Flea. "Hon, give him our number."

"Our number?" Flea gave his partner a cold stare. "You had a proper meltdown when I wanted a mobile and refused to speak to me for two days once I got it, but now, you want something so it's our number."

Gnat sat there a moment, shrugged, and then gave his partner a blazing smile.

Shaking his head, Flea looked over at Luc. "We have a way to be reached now. Since Gnat's heart attack."

"Since I fainted," Gnat corrected. When Flea glared at him, the man sighed. "Okay, okay. Since my cardiac event. Are you happy now?"

Chuckling, Luc held up a hand. "No need, guys. My idBot liaison gave it to me this afternoon."

"You see?" Gnat threw up his hands. "You get a mobile and the government can trace you. I told you it was a mistake."

"Gnat," Flea said, with his usual patience, "Luc owns idBot. Not the government."

"Maybe, but you mark my words, one day it'll be in the hands of the Empress."

Flea looked over at Luc. "You see what I put up with on a daily basis?"

"I do." A scruffy, grumpy version of Pietas. "Believe me. I can relate."

Tornahdo is facing his most dangerous mission, the very reason Ghost Corps exists.  He must take out the king responsible for every war between humans and Ultras since the origin of the Ultra bloodline.
If he succeeds, the war is over.
If he doesn't, the Ultras will rule mankind for another thousand years...

Excerpt Bringer of Chaos: Lights Out

In this scene, Tornahdo is having a quiet drink prior to leaving on a mission, when a member of Ghost Corps shows up.

Ravenstongue sauntered toward him. "Why you here?"

Tornahdo kicked back in his chair. After stretching out his legs, he crossed his ankles. "Why do you care?"

"Big ops tomorrow. Lights out in ten. Time for you to go home and go to bed."

Behind the bar, the keeper closed up shelves and battened down doors.

"Yeah?" Tornahdo flicked a hand toward the door. "I'll follow you out."

"I'm not leavin'. Didn't you hear? We passed inspection with the highest scores. Got a free night out." Ravenstongue jabbed a finger toward Tornahdo. "But you gotta go home like a good boy."

In no kingdom in the galaxy would that happen.

Ravenstongue lifted two fingers, signaling his cohorts.

The keeper ducked behind the bar while the goons flanked their wannabe boss, imbecilic grins in place.

A pair of demons usually sat on Tornahdo's shoulders. The bad demon laid out strategy while the good demon discouraged action. Tonight, the good demon flipped a middle finger toward Ravenstongue with a not-so-subtle suggestion to kick his ass.

Tornahdo took his time rising, slid his chair under the table. "What did you say?"

"I said, 'You gotta go home like a good boy.'"

Hanging his thumbs in his belt, Tornahdo gave him a slow smile. "Go back to the bar, finish your drink and we'll pretend we're all friends and leave together. This is your last chance for a peaceful end."

"Peaceful." With a scoff, Ravenstongue jerked his head toward Short Goon. "You hear that?"

"Yeah. Maybe we oughta do what--"

Ravenstongue jabbed him with an elbow.

"I mean, yeah! I heard that." He leaned closer to his boss. "We gonna?"

"No, you idiot. Shut your face and back me up."

How did these hotheads enlist? Ghost Corps must have been desperate for bodies. Literally. A fighter's corpse they could reanimate. Which was a sobering thought.

Was that what the corps thought of him?

A Romance for Christmas

A Romance for Christmas #Christmas #Romance

Genre: Contemporary Holiday Romance

Christmas Memories

One of my favorite memories of Christmas happened at age eighteen. I convinced my parents to let me stay up and do the stuff for "Santa" and wrap goodies for my nieces and nephews, who stayed over Christmas Eve.

My sisters, who were quite a few years older, each had small children.

Having younger kids there meant for once, I was the "oldest kid". I figured taking part in the Santa stuff made me an adult.

So I stayed up, helped wrap and put out gifts, and signed things "from Santa" using a "fake" signature so no one would recognize my handwriting. I even ate the milk and cookies.

Next morning, I enjoyed seeing the happy and excited kids. I knew about the "conspiracy" of not telling who ate the cookies. But a little part of me missed the surprise of finding gifts from Santa, even though I had known for many years Mother and Daddy put them out.

I don't think we ever outgrow the wonder of surprise on Christmas morning, even when we know the truth.

Perhaps because we realize that someone thought about us, and for that moment, we feel not only surprised and special... but also loved.

I hope A Romance for Christmas gives you a warm glow and helps you remember the wonder of the season.

Tarthian Empire Companion

Tarthian Empire Companion #NonFiction #SciFi #AmWriting

Genre: Non-fiction, writer's guidebook

For Tarthian Fans

The Companion is a World Building Bible and Guide to Writing a Science Fiction Series.

Before writing the first book in the Tarthian Empire, I wrote ten thousand years of future history.

This book features that history, and spans Earth and its colonization of the galaxy, focusing on the big picture.

The Tarthian Empire Companion also provides advice and suggestions for creating a Science Fiction series and building worlds.

The companion provides organizational tips, links to marketing sites, groups supporting writers, science fiction groups, and more.

Illustrated in full color with original art created by Jamin Allen and Kayelle Allen.

What is a Story Bible?

A "story bible" is the book an author uses to keep all the details straight when writing a story or book. Different from a synopsis or outline, a story bible is a collection of details that bring a story to life. Is your hero left handed? What year did your king assume the throne? What is the name of your heroine's pet? What type of money does your character have in his pocket? All these details and more are kept in a story bible. This book includes my story bible -- and shows you how to create your own.

Qualified to Write a How-To

I have studied the craft and read classic Scifi since I was a child. In 2008 I won an honorary mention for the EPIC eBook Award for Fantasy, and in 2010 won the EPIC eBook Award for Science Fiction Romance. My books have won reviewer's awards and received multiple four- and five-star reviews. I have published numerous Science Fiction books, Science Fiction Romances, and have written within the genre since 2003.

Writing a History

Writers must understand the culture of the people about whom they write. What events drove their wars? Who won them? What made the peace so short, and the fighting so dire? The Tarthian Empire Companion suggests other questions to consider when writing a history for your world.
